Astrapi® Corporation Nominated for a Telecom Council SPIFFY Award
Washington, DC (August, 2015) – – Astrapi Corporation is pleased to announce it is one of a select few companies nominated for a Telecom Council of Silicon Valley SPIFFY Award in “The Ground Breaker Award for Engineering Excellence” category.
Astrapi was nominated as the pioneer of non-periodic, spiral-based signal modulation. By deliberately engineering a non-stationary spectrum, Astrapi challenges classical channel capacity theory, potentially opening the door to much higher spectral efficiencies. Additionally, spiral-based waveform design features provide pathways to greater resistance against channel impairments such as coherent interference and phase noise.
“We are honored to be nominated by such a prestigious group as The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley and to be recognized for our leadership in research in the area of spiral-based signal modulation,” said Dr. Jerrold Prothero, Astrapi’s CEO and founder. “Astrapi continues to be well positioned to address the needs of those transmitting large amounts of content, in power constrained, noisy environments. And those needs are well-defined issues facing telecommunications companies.“
The SPIFFY Awards is an annual ceremony that recognizes the best telecom startups of the past year. Since TC3 2014, the Service Provider Forum (SPIF) and the wider Telecom Council will have reviewed over 200 young telecom companies. By simply being nominated for a SPIFFY, startups are recognized as the most elite in the industry with ideas, relevance, and traction that appeal most to global service providers. Award categories include innovation, creativity, emergent entrepreneurship and competitive excellence. Winners will be announced during TC3 on the evening of Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, Calif.
“The 2015 SPIFFY Awards mark the most competitive group of entrants to date,” said Liz Kerton, President of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley. “SPIFFY nominees are chosen for their innovative solutions, approach to the market, and strong leadership. Winners are in an elite group that will secure attention from global service providers for years to come.”
ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the pioneer of spiral-based signal modulation, which opens an unexplored area for innovation at the core of telecommunications. Based on a new generalization of Euler’s formula, the foundational mathematics for telecom, Astrapi provides fundamentally new ways to design the symbol waveforms used to encode digital transmissions. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in telecommunications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. The resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.
ABOUT The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley
The Telecom Council of Silicon Valley is Where Telecom Meets Innovation. The Council connects the companies who are building communication networks, with the people and ideas that are creating it – by putting those companies, research, ideas, capital, and human expertise from across the globe together in the same room. Last year, The Telecom Council connected over 2,000 executives from 750 telecom companies and 60 fixed and wireless carriers across 40 meeting topics. By joining, speaking, sponsoring, or simply participating in a meeting, there are many ways telecom companies of any size can use the Telecom Council network. For more information and to join our invitation list, visit www.telecomcouncil.com.
