Space Strategies Consulting Limited and Astrapi Corporation are pleased to announce the successful execution of a Strategic Alliance to advance Spiral Modulation

Dallas, TX (December 14, 2020) – Astrapi Corporation is pleased to announce the successful execution of a Strategic Alliance with Space Strategies Consulting, LLC (SSCL), located in Kanata, Ontario, Canada. This Alliance extends and broadens the relationship initially developed through a project funded by Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) that developed a proof-of-concept system for Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) applications leveraging Spiral Modulation under an Astrapi license. Astrapi’s Spiral Modulation provides a structured way to dramatically increase spectral efficiency by exploiting the capabilities of a continuously-varying spectrum. This innovative solution addresses critical problems in telecommunications, including greatly increasing data throughput, efficient bandwidth usage, reduced signal power requirements, improved interference rejection, and lower latency.

Under the Strategic Alliance, Astrapi and SSCL will work together to identify and exploit opportunities to commercialize Spiral Modulation.

Astrapi has demonstrated a 2-4dB improvement in signal power (Eb/No) vs. bit error rate (BER) performance using Spiral Modulation compared to traditional signal modulation. This translates into very significant advantages in constrained and economically important markets. Astrapi has now migrated demonstration capability into the state-of-the-art Xilinx UltraScale+ RFSoC Software Defined Radio (SDR) platform.

Critical and limiting problems for any satellite communication system are signal interference and environmental conditions in the atmosphere which degrade performance. These constraints are particularly acute in congested or contested environments subjected to interference and intentional jamming.
