Washington, DC (June 25, 2013) – Astrapi Corporation, a company that has developed a game changing signal modulation technology that enables more efficient communications transmissions, announced today the United States Patent and Trade Office (USPTO) has granted Astrapi its first U.S. patent 13/902,502, “Telecommunication Signaling Using Nonlinear Functions” .

Astrapi’s spiral-based signal modulation technique will have profound implications, dramatically improving spectral efficiency and systemically altering how telecommunications network operators send/receive signals. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to provide an order of magnitude overall improvement in the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in telecommunication: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. These new techniques are expected to find early application in challenging defense communication environments, enterprise satellite networks, and internal terrestrial networks for mobile telephone providers.

Astrapi is led by the inventor, and acknowledged thought leader of spiral-based modulation, Jerrold Prothero, Ph.D., the founder and CEO of Astrapi Corporation. “For the first time, we show how to effectively use bandlimited non-periodic waveforms as the basis of communication,” said Dr. Prothero. “By extending the mathematics and engineering principles that are the foundation of telecommunications, we can do some very interesting things, things previously thought to be impossible. Primary market validation has affirmed our approach.” Astrapi has filed for international patent protection and has several other patents pending and in process. Astrapi recently closed a $1.5 million seed round of funding in May 2013.

ABOUT Astrapi Corporation
Astrapi is the leader in a revolutionary method of communication – spiral-based modulation, a game-changing force in communication technology. By applying new mathematics to signal modulation, Astrapi is able to improve the trade-off between the four fundamental parameters in communications: bandwidth, signal power, data throughput, and error rate. Based on foundational work by its founder, Dr. Jerrold Prothero, the company’s patented Compound Channel Coding™ (cCc™) technology allows for dramatic improvements in communication performance by smoothly integrating periodic and exponential signal parameters. For network owners, operators and end-users, the resulting efficiency translates into higher spectral performance with more bits available at a lower cost.
